Beaconhills 4 ball ambrose @ 8.03am

A welcome return to Beaconhills after a 13 year hiatus. The course played well and was in good condition, with favourable reports from the members. The weather held up with just a few sun showers.

The MGC records showed that the last time we played there it was a singles event, with the Macster sweeping all and sundry aside to don the tweed.

In true Macster fashion, he was to let all believe he couldn’t recall the track, but his captain, Stork knew different and thus awarded Macster the team captaincy on the first tee. But the team of big hitters got off to a shaky start with Stork taking his eye off his buggy as it free-wheeled down the fairway with the big man in hot pursuit, (flashbacks of the hamstring injury from the MGC gift a couple of years back).Stork

But alas, Macster couldn’t instil any kind order into his team as constant bickering throughout the day was to cost them in the end for a second place finish nett 58.

It was clear, that Team Girdy was going to be the team to beat and this proved to be the case by some margin. Shooting a gross 65 nett 54 it was easy pickings in the end.winners

Plenty of prizes to take home for the Easter holiday outing. Hats, balls, tees, chocolate bunnies and much more.

Finishing second off the stick was Team Trav alongside Barra, Baby Koala and Koala, with a very reputable score of 68. However, once the new self-appointed club handicapper Girdy low-balled Trav with a handicap of 7, (he hadn’t played in over a year) the writing was on the wall from the start, there was nothing surer that this team would be handicapped out the event.

Like the true sportsmen they are, they took it on the chin and moved on recording a nett 59.25 to end up in 4th position.Nagas

Nearest the pins for the day went to Tich 11th, Paul 13th, Travis 15th and Paul 21st, no one on the 19th.

Play of the day went to the local kookaburra that swooped in on Winker and stole half his pie out of his hand while he was eating it.

As the last game of the season is nearly upon us, the members were reminded of the challenge thrown down between Clayton and Billy Mac with a crisp $20 on the line.

Billy Mac was quick to point out the schoolboy error of Clayton taking the win today for a one shot handicap cut.

Also on the line, final points to play for in the NAGA of the year and player of the year (Ann Lee trophy) and of course the Animalia cup.

Event management was taken care off by Koala with chow mein and chips and Winker serving up apple pie and custard, hmmm.
